What is IELTS? IELTS stands for the International English Language Testing System. It is a widely accepted English language proficiency examination standard for academicians and professionals. IELTS is recognised by universities and Employers in many countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada and the USA. Additionally, countless professional bodies, immigration authorities, and official government agencies also recognize it. Please ensure that you review the institutes where the exam is requested to confirm their recognition. Who should take the IELTS exam? ● Students hoping to study at a higher education institution ● People looking to acquire an accredited certificate of professional English proficiency ● Students applying for scholarships or technical certifications ● English Language learners who would like to affirm their progress ● Students and workers applying for working visas or immigration Test Format There are four modules in an IELTS exam: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Students must sit all four modules for a grade. The listening test lasts for about 30 minutes. It consists of four sections in order of increasing difficulty. Each section might be a dialogue or a monologue. The pre-recorded audio is played once only, and the questions for each section must be answered while listening. After the audio is over, students are given an additional 10 minutes to check their answers. The reading test lasts for 60 minutes. Students are given an Academic Reading test or a General Training Reading test. Both tests consist of three sections, and in both tests, the sections are in order of increasing difficulty. The writing test also lasts for 60 minutes. Again, students take either an Academic Module or a General Training Module. Students must perform two writing tasks, which require different styles of writing. There is no choice of question topics. The speaking test consists of a one-to-one interview with a Cambridge exam board-certified examiner. The interview is recorded and has three separate parts, each testing different speaking skills. These assessments enable our instructors to identify individual student weaknesses, allowing them to target and address specific areas that require the most attention. Additionally, students are examined on each specific skill after it has been covered in our program to evaluate their progress and receive finalized feedback for improvement.
